The search has been extended and applicants are invited to apply for an open trustee position at Kamehameha Schools.

Last year, the Trustee Screening Committee presented three candidate names to the Probate Court. Because of unforeseen circumstances, a candidate withdrew and the court ordered the committee to reconvene.

The Trustee Screening Committee is seeking candidates who possess a deep sense of commitment and willingness to carry Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop’s vision and legacy into the future, and who have the experience and education to fulfill their duties and responsibilities as set forth in the organization’s governance policy, and be able to properly assess the performance of the chief executive officer in managing Kamehameha Schools.

The compensation for trustee members is $165,000 annually.

The Trustee Screening Committee will propose a list of three candidates to the Probate Court, which can appoint a trustee for a term through June 30, 2022. The appointed trustee could be eligible for an additional five-year term, to be determined by the court.

Kamehameha Schools is a private, educational, charitable trust founded and endowed by the legacy of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop. Kamehameha Schools operates a statewide educational system enrolling more than 5,400 students of Hawaiian ancestry at K-12 campuses on Oahu, Maui and Hawaii and nearly 1,500 students at 30 preschool sites statewide.
